How Do You Calculate the Correct Coupling Size Using Torque, RPM and Service Factor?

The correct coupling size is calculated by determining the equipment’s running torque, multiplying it by an appropriate service factor and selecting a coupling with a rated torque equal to or higher than the resulting design torque. Engineers must then confirm that the coupling can accommodate the shaft bores, operating RPM, peak torque, misalignment and environmental conditions.
